So What is Life Coaching Exactly?

Between responsibilities, expectations, disappointments and the endless demands of daily life, it's easy to lose sight of the person beneath it all.

Coaching isn't about fixing you, because you were never broken. It's about creating the space to quieten the noise, rediscover your own voice, and find the courage to take the next step.

A few years ago, if someone had told me they were a coach, I would have pictured a rugby coach standing on the sidelines, shouting instructions and calling the next play.

Life coaching isn't all that different... A great rugby coach studies the game, understands strategy, recognises each player's strengths and knows how to bring out the best in the team. But here's the interesting part...

The coach never steps onto the field to play the game for them. The players do that.

After all, a team without a coach is simply a group of talented individuals running in different directions.

Life coaching works in much the same way.

A coach doesn't tell you how to live your life. We don't make your decisions. We don't wave a magic wand or offer a list of quick fixes.

Instead, we ask thoughtful questions. We notice patterns you may not see yourself. We challenge the beliefs that have quietly shaped your decisions for years. We help you separate your own voice from everyone else's expectations.

Because somewhere along the way, life becomes noisy.

Responsibilities pile up. Relationships become complicated. Work demands more. Old wounds quietly influence new decisions. And before long, many people find themselves asking, 'How did I end up here?'

Coaching creates the space for you to pause long enough to hear yourself think again. It's a conversation with purpose. A place where you can explore what's holding you back, rediscover your strengths, and move forward with greater clarity and intention.

People often ask me whether coaching is the same as counselling or therapy... Not quite.

Therapy often helps us understand and heal the past. Coaching acknowledges the past, but its focus is on helping you move forward. It's about discovering your own answers, setting meaningful goals, and taking practical steps towards the life you want to create.

The truth is, a good coach won't tell you what to do. If anything, they'll ask you better questions. Questions that help you uncover answers you didn't realise were already within you.

Every coach has a different style. Some are energetic and challenging. Some are structured and strategic. Others, like me, believe that transformation begins with something much simpler...

A safe space.

A quiet conversation.

A place where the noise settles, and you can finally hear your own voice again.

A space where hidden things feel safe enough to emerge. Because lasting change rarely begins with someone giving you the answers. It begins the moment you realise you've had more wisdom within you than you ever believed.

And that’s all it takes.

You've got this!
